We went to work on creating the best fried chicken we could make to serve on Family Night Sundays and Chicken-Fried Tuesday. That starts with the chicken.
We’re using Bell & Evans chicken, which is renowned for its humane treatment and air-chilled process, with no antibiotics or added water, which adds up to healthier, more flavorful food. We created and taste-tested different batter to find the tastiest crust, with crispiness that sticks well to the chicken. And we know you’ll want plenty to eat, so we’re serving a half chicken: a leg, a thigh, a breast, and a wing.
Pair that up with our mashed potatoes and collard greens, plus a white cheddar buttermilk biscuit, and you’ve got yourself one helluva meal for 16.95. Bring the kids on Sunday night, and enjoy $2 kids meals for children under 12 accompanied by an adult. If you want to make the whole thing “hot chicken”-style, get it tossed in our Nashville-style hot chicken cayenne oil for two bucks.
If you want to try the Nashville hot chicken flavor without committing to a whole meal, stop by Maxie’s on Chicken-Fried Tuesday to try our Hot Chicken Nuggets, with our Nashville hot sauce coating dark meat chicken over Texas toast, topped with our house pickles. Maxie’s Hot Chicken Nuggets are discounted from 11.95 to 7.95 on Tuesdays. And expect to see other creative chicken specials every Tuesday.
Our favorite pro football team is playing our second favorite pro football team this weekend, so we came up with a way to get some NOLA flavor for your tailgate or viewing party.

Maxie’s is back with another Whiskey Dinner, this time featuring Jim Beam and Beam brands, including Jim Beam Black, Baker’s, Basil Hayden’s, Knob Creek Rye & Bourbon, and Jim Beam Single Barrel for a five-course pairing dinner.
Some bottling will be showcased neat or on the rocks, and some will be crafted into cocktails by Maxie’s talented bartenders, to be paired with four plated courses, and a cocktail and appetizer reception.
Booker’s, Booker’s Rye, Basil Hayden’ Rye, and Knob Creek Single Barrel will also be on offer for tasting at an additional price.

This a great activity for a fun-filled Labor Day Weekend, with Maxie’s joining thirteen of the other best BBQ joints in town on the Lakefront Summerfest grounds at Henry Maier Festival Park. Come check out some of the best smoky, savory, signature BBQ and sides, two stages of live music, cooking demonstrations, family fun picnic games, and a local celebrity bacon eating contest.

We’re celebrating our 10th year as a restaurant with our 10th Annual Derby Day Party for Hunger Relief on Saturday, May 6, 2017. As always, proceeds will go to support Hunger Task Force – Free & Local.With your generosity, our Derby Day party has raised more than $10,000 last year, and more than $30,000 in the last four years, to prevent hunger by providing food to people in need.
Doors open at 1 p.m., with a $15 entry fee, which goes entirely to Hunger Task Force. The Jackson Park Jazz Orchestra, our friendly neighborhood Big Band, will perform jazzy tunes before and after the race. We’re adding even more screens this year to watch race coverage of the 143rd Kentucky Derby.
Dress to impress: a photo booth to document every glamorous attendee. The photo booth will be the entry point for Best Dressed contests, with categories including Best Hat Most Elegant, Best Hat Most Creative, Best Dressed Family, Couple, Gentleman, Lady, and Gentleman. Photo strip prints will be available for a suggested donation of $5.
Maxie’s will sport a culinary costume: for this big day, we’re making over our menu with Derby party favorites and Kentucky-inspired specials amongst Maxie’s menu classics. Drink specials will be available at our two full-service bars, as well as at two outdoor bars. Enjoy a Four Roses Bourbon Mint Julep ($6), Oaks Lily ($6) and Peach Vodka Derby Tea ($5). Beer specials include Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale ($5) and official Derby beer Stella Artois ($4).
The party includes raffles and a silent auction, with fabulous prizes including hotel and dining packages, gift baskets and catered parties from Maxie’s. Entry includes a $5 “bet” on the race (correct selection of Win, Place & Show are entered in a raffle for prizes). Additional “bets” are $5. All Derby “bets” are for prizes only; no cash will be tendered. All entry, raffle, auction and “betting” proceeds go to Hunger Task Force. Note: Maxie’s daily Happy Hour special will not be available on Derby Day. Maxie’s will serve its special Derby Day menu only on Derby Day; regular menu items may not be available. Maxie’s cannot accept reservations or call-aheads for our Derby Day party.
It’s an all-you-can-eat roast of cluster oysters — 3,000 to 4,000 pounds of the rocky bunches of sweet, briny, baby oysters shipped from the coast and roasted. Maxie’s is shucking fully grown raw East Coast oysters to round out the total oyster experience. Maxie’s is also serving a buffet of Low Country-inspired party food, featuring Eastern North Carolina Pulled Pork, Jambalaya, Charred Corn Mac ‘n Cheese, Veggie Hoppin’ John, 7-Layer Salad, Cornbread, Key Lime Pie, Bourbon Chocolate Chip Cookies, and Banana ‘Nilla Wafer Cream Pie Parfait.

Lundi Gras offers the chance to dine from Maxie’s special menu of shareable New Orleans-inspired classics before the party rages.
