Rye Whiskey Dinner, March 5

“Rye whiskey, rye whiskey, rye whiskey I cry…”

Mondays are rough. But as ol’ Tex knows, whiskey can make it better. Join us Monday, March 5 for a special pairing dinner matched with rye whiskey and rye-based cocktails.

Ryes featured include Sazerac Rye, Rittenhouse Rye, Jim Beam Rye, High West Double Rye vs. Knob Creek Rye, and more.

Some courses will be paired with a cocktail to show how well rye does in a cocktail, while others will be paired with the course neat/rocks.

Tickets are $75 plus tax and gratuity ($90 total) and include 5 courses, cocktail reception and pairings.

Tickets are not refundable but are exchangeable and can be given as gifts. All tables are communal and seat between 8-12 guests. In addition to the drink paired with each course, a cash bar is available and will feature super premium selections of rye.

Mardi Gras & Lundi Gras at Maxie’s, Feb. 12 & 13, 2018

Join us here at Maxie’s for Milwaukee’s best Mardi Gras party on Feb. 12 and Feb. 13. This is our 11th year, and we’re again sporting a “culinary costume” of New Orleans-inspired creations. For these two days, we’ll skip our Low Country and BBQ dishes, and double down on pure New Orleans realness. Expect our unique Strawberry Beignets, Crispy Boudin Balls, and, of course, Muffuletta. (And save room for a slice of King Cake at the end of the night on Mardi Gras!)

Drink specials for both nights include $4 Abita beers and $5 real passion fruit Hurricanes.

Lundi Gras, Monday, Feb. 12, 4 p.m.

Lundi Gras is an excellent opportunity to dine on classic New Orleans dishes and Maxie’s original creations before the party rages. Maxie’s opens at 4 p.m. on Lundi Gras. Members of the Extra Crispy Brass Band (ECBB) will perform roving throughout the restaurant from 6 to 9 p.m.

We’re accepting a limited number of reservations for parties of 7 people or more on Lundi Gras via 414-292-3969. On Lundi Gras, parties of up to 6 are encouraged to check live wait times and get on the list via the NoWait app or Yelp app. (Once you arrive, please check in with a host and we will seat you when your table is available and your entire party is present. Wait times are estimates; seating order is not guaranteed. If there is not currently a wait, it will say “Come on in!”).

Mardi Gras, Fat Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2 p.m.

Maxie’s opens at 2 p.m. on Mardi Gras, Fat Tuesday, Feb. 13. Matt “MF” Tyner will play onstage in the heated party tent from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. ECBB will play onstage in the heated party tent from 6 to 10 p.m. An outdoor bar in the tent will serve the party’s signature drinks.

We went to work on creating the best fried chicken we could make to serve on Family Night Sundays and Chicken-Fried Tuesday. That starts with the chicken.

We’re using Bell & Evans chicken, which is renowned for its humane treatment and air-chilled process, with no antibiotics or added water, which adds up to healthier, more flavorful food. We created and taste-tested different batter to find the tastiest crust, with crispiness that sticks well to the chicken. And we know you’ll want plenty to eat, so we’re serving a half chicken: a leg, a thigh, a breast, and a wing.

Pair that up with our mashed potatoes and collard greens, plus a white cheddar buttermilk biscuit, and you’ve got yourself one helluva meal for 16.95. Bring the kids on Sunday night, and enjoy $2 kids meals for children under 12 accompanied by an adult. If you want to make the whole thing “hot chicken”-style, get it tossed in our Nashville-style hot chicken cayenne oil for two bucks.

Fried-Chicken-Tuesday

If you want to try the Nashville hot chicken flavor without committing to a whole meal, stop by Maxie’s on Chicken-Fried Tuesday to try our Hot Chicken Nuggets, with our Nashville hot sauce coating dark meat chicken over Texas toast, topped with our house pickles. And expect to see other creative chicken specials every Tuesday.

Our favorite pro football team is playing our second favorite pro football team this weekend, so we came up with a way to get some NOLA flavor for your tailgate or viewing party.

Maxie’s is back with another Whiskey Dinner, this time featuring Jim Beam and Beam brands, including Jim Beam Black, Baker’s, Basil Hayden’s, Knob Creek Rye & Bourbon, and Jim Beam Single Barrel for a five-course pairing dinner.

Some bottling will be showcased neat or on the rocks, and some will be crafted into cocktails by Maxie’s talented bartenders, to be paired with four plated courses, and a cocktail and appetizer reception.

Booker’s, Booker’s Rye, Basil Hayden’ Rye, and Knob Creek Single Barrel will also be on offer for tasting at an additional price.
